Do you prefer to have breakfast at home or just have dinner? Do you have guests on weekends? What are your hobbies?
It might seem that these questions are irrelevant as long as interior design is concerned, however it’ quite the opposite and here’s why.
What do you know about numerology and astrology?
Personally, apart from horoscopes in the news feed, I did not come across them in any way … before having to project a particular country house. It turned out to be a whole new world, subject to the laws of space and based on accurate calculations, ironically.
I learned this while working with a wonderful family: husband, wife and adult daughter. We have been friends for a long time and this is not our first interior design project. The girls are fans of numerology and astrology. To support the project they invited a professional astrologer, who determined the way the rooms had to be located and directed relative to cardinal points and their purpose, as well as the color scheme, for each room its own.
In my turn, I had to project the design considering all the information, so that it would look stylish, cozy and holistic.
I prepared the technical assignment taking all customer’s wishes and comments into account and got down to work – drew up a plan of the premises with all the necessary technical content, lighting, furniture arrangement.
We discussed and clarified the details and proceeded with selecting shapes, colors and textures. One of the tasks was to marry the vivid terracotta color in the office with delicate pastel colors that were chosen for other rooms, which was done successfully.
After finishings and furniture arrangements, we moved on to textile decorations, setting paintings and accessories – and this is my favorite part, because the design literally comes to life and becomes warm and cozy.
It is important to say that the space for the electric curtain track was arranged during the renovation otherwise it would have been impossible to use them. In this project, the tracks were necessary in the kitchen work area, bathroom: everywhere where the light had to be blocked out and in the best possible way.
Our clients are in love with their house, they are happy to invite guests, and just have a great time together. They say that it feels great at home and things are going well.
I am sincerely glad that everything that was planned worked out and the customers are satisfied – this is the main reason why I do this job.
