Solmanovo

The owners are a friendly family with an adult daughter. The spouses have their own business; mother and daughter are fond of numerology and astrology. The most challenging assignment for the designer was to develop the layout of the house, since the rooms for each family member had to be organized in a certain way, taking into account the direction of the cardinal points: working facing west, sleeping head to other points.
Most likely the layout would have been different, but having such a clear framework gave us no chance. We had to consider the owners’ lifestyle and their preferences. Moreover, the astrologer gave advice on the most favorable color solutions for each room. In my turn, I had to provide suggestions on accent colors and fit them into the space. Thus, along with the calm light shades that prevailed in the interior, the astrologer recommended using the terracotta color for the cabinet, which is one of the favorite rooms now.
The kitchen-living room is located on the first floor together with the public zone and the guestroom for their elders. There is an access to the back porch with summer kitchen from the living room, an ideal place to spend time with family. The second floor holds private rooms: owners’ bedroom with separate bathroom and dressing room; daughter’s bedroom, cabinet-library, shared dressing room, gym and a large bathroom.
The interior design is performed in modern classics, which is light and airy. The color solution is basically light and natural; the decorations feature paintings by contemporary artists and graphics. Environmentally friendly and easy-care materials are widely used this project.
Painting plays a major role in this project. The interior itself is quite neutral so the pieces of art make it more original and full of life. The living room and the hallway are decorated with paintings by Hadji Murad Alikhanov, in the corridor - by Yuri Tsarevsky, in the kitchen - by Anna Karyukina, and in the bedroom - by Olga Kontareva. All ceramics in the house are from Elena Orekhova's handmade ceramics workshop. Palimpsest Gallery helped us to select paintings and graphics.
